How Do You Breath When Practicing Yoga?
Roland asked:
I was told that the ratio 4(inhale) and 8(breath out) was great. But I am looking for alternative ratios. Any ratio that would help reduce my stress and blood pressure would help. Thanks for your recommendations.

i hold my breath till i pass out
Just fill your lungs, and release.
Don’t think about it, or that defeats the purpose
Besides, contrary to popular belief, yoga is not like meditation.
Yoga is used as a type of warm up before meditation. It isn’t important to concentrate on breathing while you stretch.
Wrong category much? Lol;
Well, I think you need to just relax and ask your Yoga instructor or someone with Yoga experiance on how exactly to breath, I think you inhale with the stretches then breath out with the relaxation.

I don’t know….inhale and exhale….
I simply breathe deeply throughout the routine and maintain steady transitions so as to unite the flow of positions with my breath. I don’t worry about counting or ratios. Heed your chi, not instituted standards that originate outside of yourself.
I use a 1:1 ratio…
Inhale from the diaphragm in a gentle slow 4 count… 1 -1000 2-1000 3-1000 4-1000… 2 count pause 1-1000 2-1000… and exhale with a slow gentle 4 count… 2 count pause… Repeat…
I find the rhythm very soothing and calming …
Find a rhythm that calms and soothes you… When you are calm and soothed your stress level and blood pressure will reduce in response…
For extremely stressful incidents (I.E. a fender bender or other momentary stress spike) I will use the breathing rhythm alone to help calm and soothe me so I can deal with the situation with a limited stress factor….
